  • Stuttering and fluency

  • Poor voice quality
  • Adult swallowing

Assessments

Vita Speech Pathology offers a range of assessments including screening assessment, comprehensive speech and language assessments, autism assessments and school funding assesssments.
Screening assessments
If your child presents with any of these ‘red flags’, they might benefit from a screening assessment to determine if they require speech pathology intervention.
  • Not speaking or late to talk
  • Gets frustrated trying to communicate
  • Unclear speech
  • Limited vocabulary compared to peers
  • Doesn’t listen or respond to their name
  • Requires frequent repetition before understanding what was spoken
  • Repeating sounds and/or words
  • Difficulties with reading or writing
  • Finds it hard to make friends

Screening assessment allows us to gain a better understanding of your child and help us to identify your child’s strengths and weaknesses. It will also inform the therapy approach and if further assessments are necessary.

If you’re joining our clinic for the first time, a screening assessment is usually required.
Speech and language assessments
Comprehensive speech and language assessments can provide a more in depth understanding of your child’s current speech and language abilities and difficulties in comparison to other children of the same age. Formal assessments can include formal standardised testing, dynamic assessments through play, observations, questionnaires and profiles.
Autism assessments
The assessment and diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder require a team approach. When assessing for ASD, a speech pathologist is a vital member of the multidisciplinary team involved, along with the paediatrician and psychologist.
Speech pathologists formally assess a child’s language and social communication skills to provide the necessary information that may support and meet the diagnostic criteria to allow for confirmation of diagnosis.

Speech Therapy

At Vita Speech Pathology, we offer individual therapy that is tailored to the needs of each client. We work together with the family, carers, kindergartens and schools to help develop essential speech, language and social communication skills.
Therapy is typically offered at our clinic, but we also provide speech pathology services at kindergartens and schools. Kindergarten/school-based visits are negotiated on an individual basis. Please contact us for more details.
